Grand Opening: REID Lifting’s new £4m factory

REID Lifting opened its doors to over 100 invited guests to take part in the opening ceremony of our new £4m purpose build facility on June 16, 2017.

The Grand Opening Event spanned over three days.

On 15th June REID Lifting hosted an International Sales Conference for their partners from across the globe. This was an opportunity for the partners to meet each other, share their expertise and knowledge across different sectors, industries and cultures in the lifting industry and in particular about REID Lifting equipment applications. The conference included demonstrations, presentations, one-to-ones, open forum discussion and updates on our latest product developments and capabilities. International partners from France, Germany, the Middle East and Sweden took part in the conference.

Tim Battersby and Luke Rossiter are the REID Lifting STEM Ambassadors. They delivered guided exclusive school tours of the new facilities and delivered STEM related presentations to several schools encompassing a wide range of ages: Monmouth Boys & Girls School, The Grange and Wyedean Secondary School. The STEM Ambassador program is closely associated with the Bloodhound SSC project and focusses on bringing STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to life and demonstrate their value in life and careers. The tours included a close up look at the factory; showcasing the Bloodhound Supersonic Car, 2 machines and a product demonstration of our most compact gantry, the PORTA-GANTRY RAPIDE. The school visits continued into the second day with a visit from Thornwell Primary. The teachers and the students were delighted to see the Bloodhound SSC up close.

On 16th June for the Grand Opening day REID Lifting invited over 100 guests to celebrate the official opening of our new facility. REID Lifting wanted to express their thanks to customers, suppliers and key people in the business for their continued support and contribution through the years. It was a rare opportunity for the company to cease production and reflect on the progress made to date. The company celebrated the commitment of their employees to the business by awarding 10 years’ service awards to several members of staff. A superb hog roast and jazz music were provided by local business and enjoyed by all the guests from around the world.

In his speech Nick Battersby, Managing Director summarised the history of the company and the product developments up until this point. STEM Ambassadors, Tim Battersby and Luke Rossiter gave an overview of the company’s product sponsorship of the Bloodhound SSC and its progress towards breaking the land speed record next year in South Africa. Nick invited David Davies, Conservative MP for the Monmouth constituency to speak and cut the ribbon to formally open the new purpose build facility.

On 17th June REID Lifting invited all staff members to a Friends & Family open day. All employees were encouraged to bring friends and family members to visit the new facilities including a visit inside the factory. The Bloodhound car was a bonus added attraction for many of the visitors. Tim Battersby delivered a STEM presentation focussing on fun facts for the Bloodhound Supersonic Car.

Nick Battersby said, “REID Lifting are delighted with the attendance and feedback from the Grand Opening Events. Some of our international partners had never been to our facilities before, which provided us with a fantastic opportunity to show them the structure of the factory producing our award winning aluminium products.”
