Heathrow’s World of Opportunity grant winners: REID Lifting

REID Lifting have been awarded funding for international trade through Heathrow’s World of Opportunity grant programme. REID Lifting have been named as one of the winners among 20 other SME’s. Out of over 290 applications from June 16 to July 14, REID Lifting were the only successful company from Wales.

This funding is to be used to fund overseas market research, trade missions and tradeshows, in order to support the export of goods or services to new international markets. As part of the funding, REID Lifting will have access to the personalised advice from the Department of International Trade, as well as a Plaza Premium lounge pass to begin their trip in style when leaving Heathrow.

According to a new YouGox survey, 50% of British SMEs which currently export want to increase their export destinations within the next two years unil 2019; when Article 50 negotiations are due to complete.

Nick Battersby, Managing Director of REID Lifting:

“Heathrow is a key hub for us as we can connect to customers and exhibitions around the world and ship equipment required quickly for urgent projects.

“Heathrow T5 was also a source of inspiration for us in developing the PORTA-GANTRY Rapide – a rapidly deployable gantry system for maintaining baggage handling conveyors – and helped us to win the Queen’s Award for Innovation & International Trade.

“We plan to use the World of Opportunity grant from Heathrow to help us make follow-up trips to countries where we feel there is great potential for our equipment. Having identified a number potential partners in the different markets, we feel local cultures require investment in ‘getting to know each other’ before committing to what hopefully will be a strong future business relationship.”
